Indian technology to control home appliances through SMS
We have seen it on Sci Fi movies and we have also read about in technology news about controling applicances like TV, Fridge or even your windows from mobile and now we have two B. Tech. (Final Year) students, Abdullah Azhar Ali and Kamal Kumar Gupta of Department of Electronics, Z. H. College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University who have developed this in India.
Under guidance of Prof. Ekram Khan of Department of Electronics they have developed their final year project which allows any home user having a GSM mobile to control home appliances using a Mobile device via SMS. You can imagine turning on your TV and let your fav channel start as soon you reach your door step.
According to the news published at the official website of the university the project has received second prize at a national level students’ competition “Engineer Infinite” held at Mumbai as part of International Exhibition of Electrical and it received a prize money of Rs. One Lakh.
I hope somebody fund them and brings this technology to urban and rural places and see how much cost effective it can be. There is no technical detailed mentioned yet there but we hope to see it coming soon.
