Delhi Police has started a new facility for the citizens under which you can get the copy of FIR without standing in a queue and without wasting your time. Now you will be able to download new FIRs registered in the Capital from Delhi Police official website. which went live today. Till yesterday the data was being uploaded.
According to the official, an accused can apply for the copy of a FIR at a charge of Rs 25 for four pages and an extra Rs 10 for each extra page.
How it come into existence:
The move comes following a direction by the Delhi high court on December 6 last year when it said an accused is entitled to get a copy of the FIR within 24 hours of its registration. The court had said the FIRs should be uploaded online within 24 hours of its registration though it exempted the force from making public FIRs on sensitive issues.
How to grab your copy of FIR :
For an accurate search FIR no is best but if you arent aware of FIR number you can make search with District, Police Station and Year, Date Range and name. The name can be incomplete but you need to choose between Accused, Complainant or victim.
