Dear All, to know more about Shastriji please read the book authored by C.P.Srivastav, “Lal Bahadur Shastry – a life of truth in politics. Wonderful book. Srivastav was Shastriji’s secretary & worked with him very closely for many years. Shastriji -the prime minister -used to pour the tea himself for Srivastav. When objected, the prime ministe shastriji replied, you are in my office so I should serve you the tea …how is that ??? thst is why I said he was much greater than gandhi in living simpleton.

Thanks Jayteerth, For telling adding this great incident of Shastri ji' s life, however, I disagree with your opinion about Gandhi ji, he may not be practicing simplicity to the extend as of Shastri ji but there are loads of things which make him Great. Thanks again, Keep visiting

I am very very thank ful to the gentleman who has posted this information about Great Shastriji. I wish to write here an incident is his life. This is in the context of the parole availed by our great murderer who was well supported by none other than another great lady of congress, Shiela Dixit. I wish some body should remind this incident of Shastry to Dixit so that she may feel ashamed, if not thinking of committing suicide. please see my next comment ..

when I read this first time my eyes were blurr. Such were the charecters of Bharat. Look at todays people, especially the congress. Had he been alive I am sure Shastriji would have committed suicide .. We all praise mr.gandhi for his simplicity, (who got much of undue respect & popularity. There were many greater than him those days ) I feel Shastriji was much greater than gandhi in its practicing simplicity. Because I have read Sarojini naidu's statement "bapu ki ashram chalane ke liye bahut paise lagte hai " …some times, rather many times, especially in India, false propaganda, bogus things out shine the genuine ones .. however, it is for our benefit we should learn recognising the diamonds, real light …. Vande mataram, ..Bharat mata Ki jai …

Shastriji was in jail & came to know that his elder daughter was seriously ill. To avail the parole the jailer said Shastry had to assure that he would not use this time for any polotical activities. But Shastriji did not agree & decided not to go home. But the jailor knew Shastriji well & allowed him to see his daughter without any written commitment from Shastriji. Very unfortunately the day Shastriji reached home the daughter breathed her last. You know what he did ??? he completed the cremation & rituals went back to the jail the SAME DAY ???? he did not avail the 15 days parole which jail had granted officially. The jailer was shocked & told shastriji that he may return after few more days .. But Shastriji did nt go home …
