SAM : A new system that can monitor well being of Elders

At the time where the percentage of parents living alone and far from their children because of situtations, team of four people which inlcudes 2 indians, Sen Gupta, G.   Mukhopadhyay, S.C.   Sutherland, M.   Demidenko, S has come with an a solution which they call as SAM or Selective Activity Monitoring, Wireless Sensor Network for Selective Activity Monitoring In a Home for the Elderly.

The basic idea of this system is that everyday objects like Toasters, sebsors around bed or even Fridge can be trained to pull data of people around to a computer where it can be analyzed how they are doing. The data can be analyzed by their children who are far or appointed doctor on daily basis which would reduce the risk of last moemnt failures. The sensors cost 75$ each and you would need at least 6 to monitor properly.

As of now this technology is not available in India but this definitely is pointing to something bright. Even for the children who work for longer period can monitor their parents health every day and can get them proper medication early.
