Why 1p/sec plan is costly for local calls

After Docomo rolled out 1p/sec plan flat for any calls ( STD or local ), all mobile players did the same but there is abig time catch when it comes to local calls and its costly.

In most of the mobile network provider there are power packs which lets you lower down your local calls to around 35 paise per minute. So now if you do the maths :

  • With powerpack I make a local call for 5 minutes and it will cost me 5 * 35p = 1.75 INR
  • With 1p/sec it will cost me 300 p = 3Rs.

At the end you end up paying more on local calls ( 3.0 -1.75 ) 1.25 INR.

So who benfits from this plan ?  People who make short calls all the day but if you talk to anybody for long hours you pay more.  However this is a very good plan if you make more of std calls. So did you take up the plan of 1p/sec ?

Agreed. But it helps when we talk less than a minute.
In major this is really a beautiful offer for STD calls.

    Thanks,

    Hi All,

I think we should not talk and spend lot of time on this one paisa per minute plan as very shortly, at least two more service providers-Etisalat and Telenor- will come. I think very soon we might have plans like pay 199/- use unlimited and pay 299/- use unlimited local and std.

As of now the next best offer the service providers can come out is something like: whole minutes charged @ 30, 40 or 50 paise and last minute charged @ 1 paisa per sec if it doesnt exceed the whole minute charges.
