“Aakash” Specification and Price : India’s cheapest Tablet

India now has the cheapest tablet which is priced at 30$ for college graduates and a commercial vcersion in 50$ to roll out soon.

Aakash Specifications :

  • Screen Size is  7″ Resistive
  • Processor: 366 MHz + another processor for Graphics or HD Video
  • RAM : 256 MB
  • Flash memory: 2GB + 2GB Micro-SD (expandable up to 32 GB)
  • USB ports: 2
  • Battery Power is 2100mAH
Now sure on how it is going to connect to Internet but I am assuming WIFI or Sim Card support should be there if nothing else.

So I guess you had figured out now what the device is for. Its not for entertainment and nor for playing games but a device which will give a computer to every person in India, right from Vegetable shopkeepers to a Taxi Driver to manage his stuff done if at all required.

Even if I forget everything, this device can get school kids who live in rural area a power to read and get to know the world outside if this device can be regularly updated with new books and offline Wikipedia. Probably somebody can run a service updating these devices with new stuff available to children.
