India is one of the largest democracy in the world. One of the reasons that make a country democratic is its right to votes to its citizens. However, many of us are not bothered and don’t even know the details of our polling booth also. Indian Government has provided many ways to find specifics of your Electoral by sending SMS or using an App or from the website.
How to find details of your Electoral roll via SMS, App, and Website
Earlier, we used to find a printout of our Electoral information from the nearest office. The details on it only made it possible to figure which booth number I need to visit, and where my voter id is listed. Now that everything is electronic, you can use any of the three ways to find out Electoral details.
What is the Electoral roll?
An electoral roll is a list of all eligible citizens who are entitled to cast their votes in an election. The electoral rolls are prepared according to Assembly Constituency, and for any Assembly, Constituency is subdivided into parts corresponding with the polling booths. The list is revised and make on every first working day in January.

Find Electrical details via SMS
- Go to Election Commission of India Official Website and choose Link to State CEO from the menu on the left.
- Select your state, and this will take you to the Official Site according to the state.
- Here you will have to search for a link that gives you a number where one can send SMS to get Electoral Details.
- In case you cannot find any link, use the Search by Name or Address option to find the details.
Note: The number keeps changing, and hence you will have to look for an updated number. According to my findings, this feature is not available for all the states, and some states like West Bengal, the search doesn’t work. Hopefully, this will be fixed at some point in time.
Find Electoral details via App or Website
You can find polling booth details, your electoral information using an app if you have a Voter Id or EPIC number. Go to KnowBoothNofficers link, and enter the EPIC number. Since most of us are using smartphones, it is best to install the Voter Helpline App. You will need to enter the EPIC number, validate via OTP, and then you will get to see all the details on your phone.
