North-East & Border regions to get WiMax,Broadband & IT Park

BPOs is India have brought a lot of investments from foreign countries. Northeastern community is the first choice of BPO employers as the employees, reason being, they are easier to train and impart skills to for this kind of work.

Keeping the above said fact in mind, The Government of India has begun a program to wire up the entire northeast and remote border regions with Telecom, WiMax and broadband connectivity and unleash an IT revolution in the region.

Government has already launched WiMax in Chaygaon, on the outskirts of Guwahati in Assam, ( Like in Kochi )  which is a wireless, high speed internet broadband connectivity, and it is such that people living in a radius of 15 KMs can access the internet easily

States like Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, are the part of Northeastern region, and Government is also planning some more projects like –

  • To give the satellite phone facilities to villages in the northeast, which are cut off from others due to their location, along with a much-subsidized tariff.
  • Government is also planning a software parks project at Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh, which will be an export-oriented scheme for developing computer software and extending related professional services.

An attempt to revolutionize the regions like Northeast is a great idea; moreover this may even help in improving the perspective of groups who have chosen the path of terrorism to retaliate due to the feeling of left over.
