New Penalties (Traffic Fine) in Motor Vehicles Act 2019

The new Moto Vehicle Bill (Amendment)) has been passed by both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. There are significant changes when it comes to the amount of money as a traffic fine. It also includes a new section for Juveniles and the owner of the vehicle. Here’s the list of Penalties Traffic Fine Motor Vehicles Act 2019 for road traffic violations. We have included both old and new penalties to understand the drastic changes. At the end of the table is the list of new Section introduced with it.

List of new section passed in the Motor Vehicles Act 2019

1] Section 199 — Offences by juveniles: 

Guardian or owner of the vehicle will be held guilty along with a fine of Rs 25,000 and three years of imprisonment. Also, the registration of the vehicle will be canceled.

The Juvenile will be treaded under Juvenile Justice Act + Registration of vehicle to be canceled

2] Section 206 — Power of officers to impound documents

Suspension of driving licences under sections 183, 185, 185, 189, 190, 194C, 194D or 194E

3] Section 210B — Offences committed by enforcing authorities

Twice the penalty under the relevant section

4] Section 194A — Overloading of passengers

Rs 200 per extra passenger

5] Section 194E — Not providing a way for emergency vehicles

Rs 10,000

6] Section 193 — Aggregators (violations of licensing conditions)

Rs 25,000 to Rs 1,00,000

7] Section 182B — Oversize vehicles

Rs 5,000
