Agmark is an acronym for Agricultural Marking. Agmark is a quality certification mark provided by the Government of India. This certification confirms that the product or commodity in the better term is scientifically laid down. It reinforces the quality control and the best hygienic condition of the food. This term was introduced initially in the bill presented in the parliament of India for the Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) Act.
The certification also marks the food standard keeping in mind the requirements of WTO. This certification benefits all including the producer and the consumer. The sellers can sell their products quickly and its a satisfaction mark for buyers. The Agmark certification is employed through wholly state-owned Agmark laboratories located across the nation which act as testing and certifying centers. There are eleven Regional AGMARK Laboratories across India.

Few certified AGMARK Commodities are
1] Blended Edible Vegetable Oil – Product is an admixture of any two edible vegetable oils where the proportion by weight of any two edible vegetable oil used in the admixture is not less than 20%. It must be sold in sealed packages weighing not more than 15 liters under AGMARK Certification Mark.
2] Fat Spread – Product in the form of water in oil emulsion made from edible vegetable oil. Fat content shall be declared on the label, and the “butter” will not be associated with labeling of the product. It must be sold in sealed packages weighing not more than 500 gms.
3] Carvia callosa (Common name-Karvy) – Honey derived from Carvia callosa flowers which bloom once every seven years.
4] Honey Dew – Honey, which comes mainly from excretions of plant-sucking insects on the living parts of the plants or secretions from live plant parts.
5] Light Black Pepper and Geographical origin (GI) Products – Kangra Tea, Til oil (white seeds from Tripura, Assam, West Bengal)
